Betty Howard

Betty Louise Howard 51, of St. Helena Island and daughter of Eleanor Howard and the late Taft Howard, Sr.

Funeral Services: 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Friendship Baptist Church, Coosaw Island. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

 She was born on April 6, 1960, on St. Helena Island, South Carolina.

She received her education in the local public schools of Beaufort County and was a 1978 graduate of the Beaufort High School.


She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Friendship Baptist Church, Coosaw Island; where she sang in the junior choir.

 

Betty entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at the Beaufort Memorial Hospital. She loved to sing and laugh and she enjoyed family and friends.

 

Those left to cherish her memories are her five children, Quentin Howard (Kerri) of Port Charlotte, FL, Cisely Jenkins (Tyrone) of St. Helena Island, Juliette White (John) of Ramstein, Germany, De'Onte Howard and Derrick Williams both of St. Helena Island; four grandchildren, Treshyr, Jamal, Treyvon and Aniysa; her mother, Eleanor Howard of St. Helena Island; six sisters, Lillian Seigler (Mikell), Carolyn Smalls, Ethel Johnson (Ernest) and Vanessa Holmes (George) all of St. Helena Isand, Jacqueline Lewis of East St. Louis, IL and Ursula Wharton (Carlos) of San Diego, CA; four brothers, Taft Howard, Jr. of St. Helena Island, Edward Howard (Angel) of St. Mary's, GA, Marion Howard (Averil) of Statesboro, GA anf Lorenzo Howard of Miami, FL; aunts, Mary Lou Linyard (Arthur), Annie Ruth Smalls (Ben), Essie Mae Legree, Cecilia Chaplin, Mary Lee Sterling, Rozella Howard, Jannie Howard and Jewel Howard; uncles, Isaac Moultrie and William Moultrie (Willie Mae), her godmother, Sarah Moultrie; goddaughter, Chantis "Lucy" Reynolds; grandaunt, Geneva Wilson; special nephew, Shawn Howard; best friend, Debbie Reynolds-Driessen; special friend, Roscoe Hernton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and family friends.
