Ruby was educated in the local public schools and was a graduate of Robert Smalls High School. After graduating, she moved to New York to pursue a modeling and nursing career. She returned to Beaufort where she worked at the Hyatt and Hilton Hotels for many years. Because of her deep love for children, she continued her educational pursuits and earned a degree in early childcare development. She worked as a childcare provider at the Biblecare Academy before opening her own Day Care Center “God’s Fountain of Love”. Each one of her children was special to her and she loved and nurtured them all as if they were her very own children.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a member of Jericho A.M.E. Church. Many years later, she joined More Abundant Ministries (Formerly Salt and Light Ministry). She recently became a member of Life House Ministry under the leadership of Dr. Carlos Williams.
Ruby was a kind, loving, giving and sharing person who loved helping other people. If she knew of a need, you didn’t have to ask her, she would do her best to make sure that the need was met. She loved to cook and to share that which she cooked. Her greatest love was her love for the Lord.
Ruby was united in marriage to John Ford and from this union, one son was born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Charles Spencer and William Parker; brothers, James, Peter, Herbert, and sister, Irene.
